HISTORY

Beak & Johnston was founded in 1986 by David Beak, bringing together four generations of global meat industry knowledge. From day one, the business set out to challenge the status quo – introducing Australia to smarter, fresher ways to enjoy high-quality meals. What began as a meat processing business has since evolved into a dynamic food solutions company, shaping the way Australians eat with innovation at every step.

Over the decades, Beak & Johnston has led the market with first-to-Australia product concepts, strategic acquisitions, and consistent investment in state-of-the-art facilities.

Our commitment to innovation, quality, and customer collaboration has allowed us to grow from a local operation into a trusted national food manufacturer with more than 250 employees across our state-of-the-art facility. Beak & Johnston operates an advanced food manufacturing facility within Australia, each tailored to support our commitment to innovation, consistency, and growth. Our investments in infrastructure and technology ensure we meet evolving customer needs with exceptional quality and efficiency – at scale.

GREENACRE

Strategically located in Sydney’s southwest, our Greenacre facility is the heart of our slow-cooked innovation. Following a $15 million transformation, it features a state-of-the-art sous vide system and specialised infrastructure for pre-cooked and value-added products. The site also produces our premium soups and sauces and is home to a highly experienced team – over half of whom have been with us for more than a decade. We have our dedicated R&D team, allowing us to quickly develop and test new product innovations.

THE PROCESS: PRECISION THROUGH SOUS VIDE

At Beak & Johnston, our sous vide process is all about consistency, flavour, and quality – every time. Once our chefs craft a new recipe, our advanced sous vide technology ensures it’s cooked to perfection with repeatable precision, regardless of scale.

Using controlled, low- temperature water baths and exact timing, we gently cook our products in vacuum-sealed packaging. This technique protects the natural moisture, tenderness, and flavour of the food while eliminating the risks of over- or under-cooking.

The result? A restaurant-quality product with minimal preparation required in your kitchen. Our automated systems monitor time and temperature throughout the entire cooking process, guaranteeing accuracy and food safety from start to finish. By locking in flavours during the initial cook, our sous vide products often require fewer marinades, seasonings, or additives – delivering clean, honest taste with maximum versatility.
